Frequently asked questions

Do GTI covers fit non-GTI Polos?

Physically they sit but the GTI-specific covers are cut for deeper bolsters and integrated headrests - they gap on standard Life or Match seats.

Are GTI covers a problem to install?

GTI seats have integrated headrests. Standard headrest-slip cover designs cannot install; look for GTI-specific covers that skip a separate headrest wrap and accept an integrated top.

Do pre- and post-facelift Mk6 Polo covers interchange?

Yes. The 2021 Mk6.5 facelift changed the nose and infotainment but did not touch the seat frames.

Are all Polo trims airbag-equipped?

Yes. Every Mk6 trim (Life, Match, R-Line, Style, GTI) has front-seat side airbags in the outer bolsters. Airbag-compatible cover seams are mandatory.

One thing many buyers miss

The Polo GTI uses tartan-panelled bolsters that trap Velcro-backed cover linings - they stick fast and are hard to remove without pulling the fabric. If you have a GTI and want to keep the option to remove the covers, buy a design with elastic anchors rather than Velcro.

How to check before ordering

  • Confirm your car is sixth-generation (2017-onwards).
  • Trim check: GTI needs specific covers; Life to R-Line accept universal semi-custom.
  • Airbag-compatible mandatory across every trim.
