What decides compatibility on a given vehicle
- Whether the vehicle has a traditional 12V socket at all — some EVs (notably Tesla) have no cigarette-lighter-style socket and charge via USB-C only
- Older vehicles' 12V socket fuse rating can bottleneck a high-wattage charger below its rated output
