The Q3 (F3, 2018-onwards) uses horizontal vent slats on the centre-stack vents, which is fussier for vent-clamp mounts than the A3’s vertical slats. Some universal vent clips need the slats vertical to grip; look for clips explicitly marketed as horizontal-slat compatible, or use the outer driver’s-side vent which has a slightly deeper opening on Q3.

The MMI touchscreen sits high in the centre stack and dominates the natural top-of-dash zone. An adhesive base works well on the low centre stack below the screen, or on the flat dashboard section to the left of the wheel. Q3 dash trim is a soft-touch textured plastic that accepts high-quality 3M VHB pads cleanly; cheap gel pads leave residue on the texture that needs isopropyl to lift.

Q3 and Q3 Sportback have identical dashboards, so mount fit is shared between the two bodies. The Sportback trades rear headroom for style but the front cabin is unchanged. RS Q3 adds a different centre-console trim but the mount zones are the same.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Q3’s factory wireless charging pad work while a MagSafe mount holds the phone?

The pad sits in the centre console under the armrest. If you use a MagSafe or magnetic mount to keep the phone visible on the dash, the pad is not in use - buy a mount with an integrated Qi coil or MagSafe alignment if you want to charge simultaneously.

Are pre-facelift and 2024 facelift Q3 dashboards different for mount fit?

The 2024 facelift changed the touchscreen and steering wheel but the vent layout and dash texture carried over. Mount fit is shared across the run.
